The struggles of lesbian women, gay men, bisexuals, and transgender people to gain the equal protection of the laws is at the forefront of today’s civil liberties battles. The ACLU is involved in struggles around the country to protect LGBT people from discrimination in the workplace, in our schools, and in the realm of public benefits and other rights associated with relationship recognition and the legal integrity of LGBT families, such as marriage and parental rights and responsibilities, health care decision-making, inheritance and property rights.
