Speaking Freely: LGBTQ+ Expression in Schools

November 1, 2022 @ 5:00 pm
@ 8:30 pm

Join us in celebration of Transgender Awareness Month for a public discussion of a landmark LGBTQ+ case, the current state of LGBTQ+ rights, and the launch of a new Know Your Rights resource.

Hear from a panel of local LGBTQ+ leaders about how this new guide will work to support and educate our community, and take a copy with you to spread the word.

Featured authors at this event include Margaret A. Nash and Karen L. Graves, authors of Mad River, Marjorie Rowland, and the Quest for LGBTQ Teachers’ Rights. Their book examines the important case of Rowland v. Mad River School District, in which the U.S. Supreme Court dissent laid out the First and Fourteenth Amendment rights entitled to LGBTQ+ people.

This event will be held in person at Lewes Public Library, with a virtual attendance option via Zoom.
