Movement for a Culture of Peace (MCP) will join with Delaware Citizens Opposed to the Death Penalty (DCODP) and other groups to take action to defeat HB 125, which seeks to restore capital punishment in the First State.

Following opening remarks from civil rights attorney Jeremy Collins and Kristin Froehlich, vice president of DCODP, participants will write letters, send postcards, create posters, and prepare to rally against capital punishment at Legislative Hall at the House Judiciary Committee hearing on HB 125.

SPONSORS: Movement for a Culture of Peace is a coalition of faith, nonprofit, and community groups formed in 2014 in response to rising violence in Wilmington. Supported by dozens of partner organizations, it organized peace marches through city neighborhoods in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Since 2014, it has sponsored monthly public forums and peace activities. In 2016, the Movement created Peace Week Delaware to advocate for non-violent solutions to Delaware’s high rate of violence and other social justice issues.

Delaware Citizens Opposed to the Death Penalty is a coalition of individuals and groups formed with the purpose of ending capital punishment in Delaware, and once ended, keeping Delaware free of the death penalty. To this end, DCODP engages in education, community outreach, public awareness, legislative action, and litigation.
