At the ACLU of Delaware, we believe elected officials should be accountable to the people they serve and that includes how they vote on national issues that will inevitably impact the civil rights and civil liberties back home here in Delaware.
Each congressional session, ACLU national publishes scorecards that track how every member of Congress votes on key legislation affecting issues like reproductive freedom, immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ+ equality, criminal legal reform, and free speech. These scorecards offer a snapshot of how closely lawmakers’ actions align with the fundamental rights and freedoms we work to protect.
For Delawareans, these evaluations are one way to better understand how our congressional representatives are showing up in Washington and whether their votes reflect the needs and rights of the full spectrum of people who call Delaware home.
But these scores are not fixed.
Elected officials’ records can and do change from session to session. That’s why ongoing public engagement is essential. Our representatives are most responsive to the will of the people when their constituents speak up, ask questions, and demand action.
To find ways to get involved, please check our Take Action, Volunteer, and Events pages frequently as well as our Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Threads, Blusky).
We encourage Delawareans to review these national scorecards, stay informed, and stay in contact with their members of Congress to share their lived experiences and perspectives.
Whether it’s a call, an email, or attending a town hall, your voice plays a critical role in shaping the decisions that affect our communities.
These scorecards reflect votes from the current congressional session and will be updated by ACLU national as new votes are cast and sessions begin.
