ACLU-DE seeks a dynamic and experienced communications professional to serve as our campaign communications manager.

This person will be responsible for executing our strategic communications work on various policy and advocacy campaigns, including voting rights, immigrants’ rights, justice reform, and education equity. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who is comfortable working on cross-departmental teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Likely responsibilities of the campaign communications manager will include:

  • Work with campaign management to develop and execute strategic campaign communications plans for top-tier policy and advocacy campaigns;
  • Collaborate with the communications director and staff to identify high-impact communications opportunities for top-tier campaigns;
  • Write campaign content for platforms including website, social media, email, press, partner toolkits, action alerts, and more;
  • Create campaign graphics and videos;
  • Build web pages, HTML emails, action alerts, and forms to support campaign communications;
  • Assist with virtual and in-person events to support campaigns;
  • Plan and coordinate paid advertising campaigns to support campaign communications;
  • Collaborate with consultants and vendors for campaigns;
  • Collaborate with campaign managers, policy and advocacy director, and communications director to identify communications needs for campaign budgets;
  • Coordinate with the communications director to update and maintain a comprehensive content calendar;
  • Track, analyze, and report on campaign communications metrics;
  • Manage simultaneous projects and shifting priorities;
  • Promote the values of equity and inclusion in all areas of the organization’s work; and
  • Assist the communications director with other projects as needed

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience, and qualities:

  • Personally committed to advancing the ACLU’s values, mission, goals and programs, with an understanding of the range of civil liberties issues and their implications;
  • Superb organization skills with an ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing several projects on tight deadlines simultaneously and adjusting to frequently shifting priorities;
  • A strategic thinker and innovative creator;
  • A flexible team player who inspires collaboration and functions decisively;
  • Outgoing and straightforward; one who shares information easily; listens as well as gives advice; respects the abilities of others;
  • Proven ability to create content for a wide range of communications platforms and audiences;
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; ability to translate complex ideas into understandable messages that inform and engage targeted audiences;
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva, website management, content management, and email platforms;
  • Background or experience with video production and graphic design.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range is $60,000-$65,000. Excellent benefits include paid vacation, medical and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, life and long-term disability insurance, and generous paid holidays.
