Smart Justice

Help us end the era of mass incarceration means dismantling the tough-on-crime approach and racial bias that has come to define criminal justice.

We aim to cut the prison population by half and challenge the racial bias in the system.

Delaware continues to have one of the highest incarceration rates in the northeast corridor—higher than Maryland, New Jersey, New York and other states on the east coast.

Become a Smart Justice Ambassador

The Smart Justice Ambassador (SJA) program recruits, trains, and empowers Delawareans who have lived experience with those systems, enabling them to make changes for the better.

SJAs help advocate for legislation, policies, and initiatives to reduce the prison population and challenge racial disparities within the justice system.
