House Bill 88 would enable the General Assembly to enact laws for the registration of voters without restrictions on the period in which registration must be closed prior to an election. This would remove constitutional barriers which currently prevent same-day voter registration.
Delaware is one of only sixteen states that require voters to register to vote at least 24 days in advance of an election.
These 16 states had an average turnout 3.2% below the national average in the 2024 Presidential Election.
