In Delaware, 86% of landlords have the benefit of some kind of agent or counsel in court, but only 2% of tenants have any representation at all — leaving 98% of tenants trapped in an eviction representation gap. SB 101, the right to counsel bill, can help fix this issue.

On Thursday, April 29, 2021, the General Assembly's Law Enforcement Accountability Task Force convened to vote on recommendations for legislation that would address police reform needs in Delaware. Below is our statement on the outcome of that meeting.

Serving Life Sentences in Paper Prisons

Up to 85 percent of people living with a record in Delaware are eligible to have their record expunged. Only about 6 percent of those people have actually received an expungement. The rest fall into the "second chance gap," stuck serving a life-long sentence in a paper prison.

Our Public Schools Litigation is Bringing Legislative Action to Education Funding Inequities

Our public schools litigation has ended, but the work is just beginning. These two bills are a direct result of our agreement with the state from the court challenge we brought to the state in 2018. These bills will bring legislative change to education funding in Delaware — and that's long overdue.
