Voting Rights

Voting is a cornerstone of our democracy. The ACLU of Delaware works to protect and expand the right to vote.

No voice unheard.

The right to vote, and to have one’s vote accurately and fairly counted, is a fundamental right of all American citizens — and one that underpins the rest of our civil liberties.

Yet barriers to voting exist everywhere in our society and impact our most marginalized communities at a disproportionate rate. Everything from insufficient voter education around eligibility and registration, to accessibility issues for voters with disabilities and non-English speakers, results in a less equitable and representative society for us all.

At the ACLU of Delaware, we believe that all who wish to vote should be able to do so. That’s why we push back against attacks on voting rights and advocate for reforms and improved technologies — such as new voting machines, early voting, same-day voter registration, and no-excuse absentee voting — to improve access to the ballot.

Demand Accountability: VoteDelaware Questionnaire Responses

During election seasons, ACLU of Delaware's voter information hub, VoteDelaware.org, features candidate questionnaires to help voters learn more about where local and state candidates landed key issues.

As newly elected officials begin their new terms, their responses will remain accessible right here. We must continue to hold our leaders accountable for campaign promises to protect and expand civil liberties for all Delawareans, and make sure they remain committed to the values they pledged to fight for.
